About Lauren
Lauren Schechter is a master's level psychotherapist in the state of Pennsylvania, currently under supervision towards becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Lauren has earned two master’s degrees from the University of Pennsylvania in both Counseling and Mental Health Services, and Professional Counseling.
She is also currently enrolled in a Post-Graduate Certification Program in Sex Therapy through the Council for Relationships, and enjoys working with individuals and couples. She mainly approaches her work from a trauma-informed psychodynamic and systemic therapy lens. She utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness techniques (from DBT) when needed, as well. This means that Lauren will be interested in learning about how you grew up, what your childhood was like, what your relationships are like, and exploring how you think and feel, among other things.
Lauren has broad experience working with both individuals and couples in the following areas: interpersonal relationships, boundary management/boundary creation, relationship concerns, anxiety, intimacy/desire, abuse and trauma (sexual, emotional, and physical), sexuality, life adjustments and stressors, depression, coping skills and stress management, and more.
She passionately believes that each person deserves to take up space and is worthy of attention, love, care, and support. Lauren believes that you are the master of your own life and that nobody knows you, better than you. She aims to create a space that cultivates support, empowerment, safety, and growth.
