About Briana

Briana graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with an M.S.Ed in School & Mental Health Counseling. During her training, Briana gained experience providing counseling for K-12 students in local Philadelphia schools and intensive outpatient care to adults using dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).

Briana has additional experience working with Spanish-speaking populations while earning her degree, as well as through post-graduation research investigating the effects of trauma on the physical and mental health of Latino asylum-seekers at the U.S. border.

Briana uses an existentialist framework as the basis for her therapeutic work, believing in the words “those who have a ‘why’ to live, can bear almost any ‘how’” (Viktor Frankl). Briana has always been curious about the 'why' questions to life and believes that as each individual goes on a journey of understanding their personal 'why's', they can build further hope and resilience for the future. To support this framework, Briana uses techniques from DBT and Family Systems Theory to cultivate emotional and interpersonal growth. This approach can be helpful for those who are struggling with anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, identity formation, and relational stress, among other concerns. Briana is also comfortable providing faith-based counseling for those who are interested.

Ultimately, Briana hopes to create a safe and accepting environment where people feel free to be exactly who they are now while exploring and moving towards the change they want to see in their lives. Briana is often found to have a calm and grounding presence. She strives to support individuals in developing deeper confidence in their personal strengths and values, discovering the most effective methods for achieving their goals, and finding ways to nurture fulfilling relationships and experiences. Briana believes that therapy is both an art and a science that is best done with a mix of empathy, humor, insight, and resourcefulness to meet the unique needs of each person.
