About Jessica

Jessica Engle is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Pennsylvania and a Registered Art Therapist (ATR). Jessica received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Towson University and a master’s degree in art therapy from Drexel University in 2013. She has since practiced in a variety of settings which include inpatient hospitalization, partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and traditional outpatient care. She has served as Clinical Director in an IOP/PHP setting and has had involvement in therapeutic program development.

Jessica specializes in working with individuals with anxiety disorders, mood disorders, thought disorders, and trauma. Jessica incorporates evidenced-based psychotherapies, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed approaches into her creative therapy sessions to assist clients with learning skills to restructure unhelpful thought patterns and safely manage intense emotions. She often utilizes a creative framework to help her clients foster positive life changes, deepen self-reflection, process trauma, and develop healthy coping mechanisms to better manage various life stressors.

When engaging in an art therapy group, an individual can expect to be provided with a safe, non-judgmental space to creatively explore their inner world and process emotions that may be difficult to verbalize. Within this space, an individual can use various art media to help externalize their trauma, foster a sense of safety and control, and integrate their trauma into their personal narrative. Jessica believes that healing is in the process of creating rather than the final product.
