Sophie McCormick

About Sophie

Sophie McCormick is a Master’s level student in the Mental Health Counseling program at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). She graduated summa cum laude from The University of Alabama with a major in Psychology and a minor in Addiction and Recovery studies.
 
At PCOM, Sophie is receiving specialized training in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and training in empirically supported treatment techniques while using a holistic approach. She focuses on fostering a safe, supportive, and collaborative environment to promote growth in her clients. Sophie believes the client is the expert in their own life, but she is there to listen and provide support to help them work towards their goals.
 
Sophie has experience working with children and adults with substance use disorders. In addition, she has conducted research on how general family experiences and interactions contribute to adolescents’ well-being and the effects social interactions can have on physical health in older adults.
