About McKenzie
McKenzie has completed a M.S.Ed in Counseling and Mental Health Services from the University of Pennsylvania, and is currently working toward her second master's degree, a M.Phil.Ed in Professional Counseling, also at the University of Pennsylvania.
In becoming a therapist, McKenzie has volunteered extensively with the Crisis Text Line, supporting countless individuals in some of their most difficult moments. She completed her practicum practicing mental health counseling at a private practice in New Jersey with a diverse array of clients. She’s completed trainings in disordered drinking, substance use, chair work, trauma and attachment, and continues to engage in continued education training whenever she can.
Having worked with children, adolescents, and adults, she’s especially familiar with the complex way childhood experiences and family dynamics can impact individuals. Whatever may be holding someone back from living their most fulfilling life, McKenzie believes in offering a safe space to explore, honor and process feelings that come up, then discover what the best next steps forward are. She recognizes that a strong trusting relationship is the foundation of a helpful and healing therapeutic experience. She creates a space of non-judgement, empathy, and warmth. She takes an eclectic approach, pulling mostly from psychodynamic, person-centered, and cognitive-behavioral therapy. She will personalize the approach in her office to meet each individual's unique needs as she believes every person is led to therapy for different reasons.
